:: Scrotum :: The scrotum piercing is done through the loose outer layers of tissue almost anywhere along the scrotum. The "traditional" placement is on the right or left side of the sac, above the testicles. This so-called "Hafada" was allegedly performed as a rite of passage in Arabia, apparently to ensure that the testes would remain descended. The validity of this history, though, is shaky.
In selecting jewelry, a ring is generally the most suitable choice, but barbells (curved and circular) can be made to work as well. We recommend a minimum of 10g, with at least a 5/8" diameter, but 8g is by no means unacceptable. Anything larger may be difficult for healing because of the weight. But once healed, large sizes and weights can be fun!
Healing tends to be 6 - 10 weeks or so.
