The pubic is a surface piercing at the top of the penis, where the shaft meets the torso. The function of the piercing is more for the pleasure of the partner than that of the wearer. In face-to-face het sex, this is a the clit tickler!

Healing follows the guidelines of surface piercings and can be both prolonged and unpredictable. Since it is a surface piercing, and one that (ideally) gets a good amount of play, a pubic's chances of lasting long-term are not good. They generally grow out over time. For this reason a staple-shaped surface barbell, usually 10g or 8g, is often the best choice for healing. However, this unfortunately minimizes benefits for your partner.

The counterpart to this piercing can be done on the underside of the penis, where the shaft meets the scrotum. This is often called a lornum (or lower frenum). A straight barbell is usually the best choice for jewelry here, as the piercing behaves much like a frenum.
