:: Christina ::

The obscure Christina is a vertical surface piercing through the skin of the mons pubis or "Mound of Venus." It is placed at the apex of the outer labia, and is to the outer labia what the vertical clitoral hood piercing is to the inner labia. However, for most women the piercing is somewhat more aesthetic than arousing. If it does heighten your sensation, grinding against your lover will be either more magnificent or reminiscent of a bruise.

Curved barbells (12g or 10g, 1/2" to 3/4") are the most appropriate choice of jewelry, as any piece which sticks out from the body will make much clothing unwearable. Extra length should be allowed on the jewelry for the swelling common to this spot.

Like the outer labia, the Christina is usually slow to heal, necessitating 3 to 9 months of care. This piercing is also very prone to migration and rejection (growing out), and may leave significant scarring as it moves. If you want this piercing, you need to have a pronounced and pinchable lip at the join of your outer labia (something akin to the lip of a pierceable navel). And if you generally shave the area, you might also consider that you will have to be extremely careful shaving for several months to come. (Shaving cream and stubble do not mix well with fresh piercings!)
